Estate Wines Garbin Estate Wines was established in 1956 by Duje Garbin, who is now in his 96th year. Duje had learned winemaking in between fishing on a small island in the Adriatic Sea. He moved to Western Australia in 1937 and eventually purchased the property in the Swan Valley where he would plant the first vines. His early product was sold around the local area, mostly to European immigrants. Garbin Estate Wines have come a long way from those days. Peter Garbin, Duje’s son is now the winemaker and the wines are eagerly sought after premium wines which have won a string of medals and trophies. Like most Australian wineries, extensive use of modern technology has allowed advances such as cold fermentation. A large new vineyard has been established north of Perth, although the old vines in the Swan Valley are still cherished and nurtured. Travelling to Perth?
