Wines produce a range of classically structured wines; Pinot
noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc. Closely planted in small
vines, grown without irrigation and utilising integrated farming
practices. The picturesque topography, sun exposure and unique
soils combine to produce flavour-rich Pinot noir grapes of
distinctive quality. |

THE VINEYARDS
Omihi Hills Vineyard in Waipara was developed
in limestone rich soils on north facing slopes, best suited
to the Pinot noir grape. The hand pruned and harvested 6 ha
vineyard is closely planted in small vines, grown without
irrigation and utilising integrated farming practices.
The Hull Family Vineyard (est. 1998) reflects
the same classical ideas of high planting density, low per
vine yield and attention to detail during all vineyard operations.
Just over 8 Ha of Pinot noir and 2 Ha of Riesling have been
planted to date.
In both these Waipara vineyards, the picturesque
topography, sun exposure and unique soils combine to produce
flavour-rich Pinot Noir grapes of distinctive quality.
The 12 ha Petrie Estate Vineyard is planted
to Chardonnay and Pinot noir grapes on well drained soils
in a distinctively cool climate, combining cool nights and
warm nor'west days to produce fine quality fruit. |
THE WINEMAKER
Danny Schuster trained in Europe as a
winemaker/viticulturist and has 30 years of international
winemaking experience. He has worked in many of the world's
fine winemaking regions including Burgundy and Bordeaux in
France, the Yarra Valley in Australia, Stellenbosch in South
Africa, the Napa Valley in California and Tuscany in Italy.
His pioneering work with Canterbury Pinot noir
resulted in the first gold medal for this variety in New Zealand.

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2002/2003
Wine Tasting Notes
"Classy, classy New Zealand Sauvignon. Highly aromatic
with crisp acidity balanced by excellent fruit sugars. Excellent
food wine."
" Ripe, gooseberry aromas lead into a rich yet subtle
wine with excellent mouth-feel and slightly flinty, minerally
characters adding complexity. It's a distinctive and tightly
structured wine.¡¨

Twin Vineyards Pinot Noir 2002/2003
TWIN VINEYARDS PINOT NOIR 2003
"Violets and strawberries are found in the nose of the
2003 Twin Vineyards. An extremely friendly, light to medium-bodied
easy going wine. It coats the palate with red cherries, raspberries
and strawberries that are intermingled with notes of white
pepper."

TWIN VINEYARDS PINOT NOIR 2002
"The ruby coloured 2002 Pinot noir Twin Vineyards boasts
a gorgeous nose of spicy red cherries. Medium-bodied, satin-textured
and sporting excellent depth of fruit, it reveals stony dark
berries intermingled with notes of cedar. This lovely Pinot
should be consumed over the next two years."

Omihi Hills Vineyard Selection Pinot Noir 2002
Wine Tasting Notes:
"Top of the range New Zealand wine with a silky, Burgundy
style. Intense black cherries and coffee beans with a Burgundian
earthy complexity and powerful mouthfeel. Ultimate iron fist
in a velvet glove wine. "
"Deliciously sweet fruited, silky and charming."
4 and a half Stars, Michael Cooper in his Buyers'
Guide to NZ Wines 2004
"It is solid, substantial wine, quite savoury
and broad of palate, in which individual components of the
blend can be identified, with fine, ripe and pervasive tannin
to complete a wine beautifully balanced for length, breadth
and complexity, while leaving room for delicacy."
Tim Harris, NZ Wine Critic Oct '04
